Inpatient Services
Physical and Occupational Therapists assist patients with maximizing their functional mobility. Following illness, injury or surgery, therapists provide patient and family education regarding safe ways to get in and out of bed, sit down and stand up from a chair or toilet seat, and using a walker on both flat surfaces and steps. The therapists assess the need for equipment (walkers, canes, reachers, etc.) to help ensure appropriate and safe discharges.
Physical Therapists focus on assisting patients in regaining strength and mobility, and improving walking ability while maintaining their safety and monitoring their weight-bearing restrictions and any other limitations. They will also provide wound care support, when appropriate.
Occupational Therapists focus on assisting patients with regard to their ability to perform their normal activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, and eating. They will also provide patient and family education on the use of any special adaptive equipment that can enable the patient to bathe, dress, or eat more independently and easily.
Speech Therapists focus on assisting patients who are having difficulty communicating or swallowing (due to a stroke, brain injury, motor vehicle accident, surgery, illness, etc.)
Outpatient Services
Outpatient Rehabilitation provides Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy and addresses a wide range of injuries and disorders.
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapists emphasize an overall recovery of the individual through a primarily exercise-based program. Emphasis on home exercises is high to help assure carryover and continued pain free activity once the patient is discharged. We also offer additional modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, manual therapies, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and taping techniques.
Some conditions we treat at Anaheim Regional Medical Center:
- Low back problems including muscle strain, pain associated with disc buldges, and pain due to arthritis, degenerative disc or joint disease.
- Post-operative joint replacement
