needs, and refers those with further needs to the chaplain, community
clergy, and other hospital departments (i.e. nursing, social services).
Clerical Support Volunteer
A volunteer in Clerical Support will assist various departments with the
completion of clerical tasks. This includes but is not limited to: filing,

Center in increasing our patient satisfaction. These volunteers will greet
patients and visitors and provide answers and guidance.

In the Gift Shop, there are 2 different volunteer positions; one position
gives volunteers the opportunity to work within the Gift Shop itself,
the other involves more patient interaction in working directly with magazine
deliveries with the Gift Shop Chairman. A volunteer inside the Gift Shop
will assist the Gift Shop Chairman in running the Gift Shop. Responsibilities
consist of (but are not limited to): assisting customers with purchases,
keeping shelves clean, and re-stocking merchandise.

to provide support and comfort (must become an active member of the Mended
Hearts Chapter).
Music Therapy Volunteer
Volunteers in Music Therapy provide our patients and visitors with the
healing, comforting, and calming effects from our hospital lobby.
Neonatal Intensive Care
Our tiniest patients in the NICU need the comfort and warmth of a volunteer
to help them develop and grow by being cradled.
Pet Therapy Volunteer
Our Pet Therapy Program (known as PAWS) brings comfort and joy to our
patients through visits to the bedside. Pets must be certified through
Therapy Dogs of Southern California (TDI) or Delta Society.
* As a volunteer, it is not your responsibility to give medical updates
to the families. Your role is to communicate between the physician/nurse
and the patient's families
